Dear Residents,
I hope that this email finds you well. I wanted to provide a brief update on a number of topics that may be of interest to you:

Auto Theft and Public Safety – the police report from September was clear:  no auto thefts, larcenies or other crimes to report.  This report is a continuation of a promising trend.  However, please do not become complacent. Remember to always remove car keys and all valuables from your autos.  Program your mirrors to fold automatically when the car is locked and, of course, lock the doors both your home and your autos.

Update of Road Repaving Projects – the Village has issued permits for National Grid to commence the gas main replacement project in the Kensett/Trumbull Roads area previously described.  Once the exact scope and timing of the project is determined by NG, the Village will solicit bids for road restoration.   We will likely use this as an opportunity to make some related improvements to roads where necessary.  More information will be forthcoming when available.

Tree Replanting – the Village is continuing its program of planting specimen trees (oaks, maples, etc.) throughout the Village. If you would like a right-of-way tree planted along the curb line in front of your house, please contact Village Hall. We expect planting to occur after the first frost.

Village Hall Renovation –the renovation of the exterior of Village Hall is expected to commence soon.  This project entails the replacement of the windows and doors, installation of drywells on the Northern Blvd. side (completed), replacement of the cedar siding and all trim (with comparable materials) and repair of the stoop (completed) and walkways. The existing Village Hall has served the Village well for over 50 years and these improvements are long overdue.  Normal operations of Village Hall will continue without interruption throughout the project.

Village Records – the Village is continuing efforts to convert all property files from paper records to electronic format.  In connection with this project, the Village has contracted with Iron Mountain® to assist in the management of this project and to maintain files that are not necessary to be stored in Village Hall but must be nonetheless maintained as part of the property records. The papers records will be stored in a local Iron Mountain® facility for safe-keeping and reference when needed.

Shredding Services – as part of the contract with Iron Mountain®, the Village has secured two locked and secure receptacles for documents/papers that need to be shredded.  Village residents are invited to use these receptacles without charge for disposal of their personal documents.  Papers deposited in these receptacles will be shredded and disposed of by Iron Mountain®.

Jimmy’s Run – Army Ranger Lead the Way Foundation 2023 Jimmy’s Run and Gold Star Memorial 5K fun run/walk will take place on Sunday, November 12th  at 8:00 AM/race begins at 10:00 AM.  This event honors the life and service of Jimmy Regan, a young resident who gave his life in service of his country.  Various roads in Munsey Park will be closed or traffic diverted for the duration of the race.  There is still time to register at http://leadthewayfund.org. Please come out and cheer those participating in this great event!

Light the Night and Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Copley Pond Park – mark your calendars – the Munsey Park Women’s Club (MPWC) Light the Night event which coincides with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Copley Pond Park is scheduled for Sunday, December 3rd, starting at 4:30 PM.  Kits may be obtained through the MPWC; order forms are also available in Village Hall.

Finally, in a surprise to absolutely no one, Munsey Park was listed as a top 50 Best Small Towns to Raise a Family in the U.S.  VMP was ranked as #43.  You can find the list through this slightly misleading link: https://107jamz.com/7-unique-benefits-of-raw-honey-from-louisiana/

That’s it for now. If you have any questions, concerns or comments generally on the condition of the Village, please let us know by contacting Village Hall.
