Mayor Ceriello led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.
A Motion to Open the Public Meeting was made by Trustee Im, Seconded by Deputy Mayor D’Angelo and called to Order by Mayor Ceriello at 7:32 pm and approved by all.
MINUTES
A motion to approve the minutes for the February 8, 2023 Board of Trustees meeting was made by Mayor Ceriello, Seconded by Trustee Im and approved by all.
PROPOSED TENTATIVE BUDGET 2023/2024
The tentative budget was prepared and provided to each member of the BOT prior to March 20, 2023 with additional copies available for review at Village Hall. Tonight, the tentative budget was presented, reviewed, and discussed with the board members in attendance. Any changes to the tentative budget will be explained and placed on record at the Public Hearing on April 12, 2022. Notice of the public hearing will be published in the Manhasset Press at least five days before the Public Hearing.
MAYOR’S REPORT
BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS AND TENTATIVE PROJECTS 2023-2024
The Board was pleased to announce that the tentative budget proposes no increase in this year’s Village tax. Various proposed projects for this year include renovations to Village Hall (we have secured a $50,000 DASNY Grant to offset some of the costs), beautification of the Village’s cul-de-sacs and various road improvement projects.
VILLAGE TRAFFIC
Mayor Ceriello stated that he is in discussion with the Sixth Precinct regarding the installation of License Plate Readers (LPR). In addition, he is waiting for the traffic study report from Cameron Engineering which will provide pertinent information needed to lower the village speed limit.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Deputy Mayor D’Angelo reported two significant expenses this month. The final payment for road repairs for $45,242 to United Paving and monthly employee health care insurance which increased to $14,133 due to an additional family coverage. It was also noted that revenue for the building permit fees is down by approximately $76,500 based on the current year’s projection of $248,000. The Village’s fiscal year ends on May 31, 2023.
PUBLIC SAFETY
POLICE REPORT: The Police Report for January 2023 notes no Burglary-Residence, no Burglary-Business, no Robberies, one (1) Larceny-Auto incident, no Larceny (other than auto), no Criminal Mischief incidents and a total of 39 summonses (34 Movers and 5 Parkers).
JUSTICE REPORT: The Monthly Justice Report for February 2023 notes total fines assessed in the amount of $573.00.
BUILDING REPORT: The Building Report notes that between June 1, 2022, to February 1, 2023, a total of 134 permits have been issued totaling $171,426.16 in Building Permit Fees.
Motion to close the Board of Trustees Public Meeting was made by Deputy Mayor D’Angelo seconded by Trustee Im and approved by all at 8:02 PM.
