A Motion to Open the Public Meeting was made by Trustee Im, Seconded by Deputy Mayor D’Angelo and called to Order by Mayor Ceriello at 7:40 pm.

Mayor Ceriello led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 MINUTES

A motion to approve the minutes for the July 14, 2021 Board of Trustees meeting was made by Deputy Mayor D’Angelo, Seconded by Trustee Im and approved by all.

 SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

The Mayor read the names of the Village Residents who lost their lives on September 11, 2001:  Thomas Burke, Paul R. Casio, James Connor, Joseph J. Dickey Jr., John F. Iskyan, Timothy C. Kelly and Frank Salvaterra. 

 JIMMY’S RUN – SEPTEMBER 19, 2021

Trustee LiCalzi explained that for the first time The Village will host the 2021 Jimmy’s 5K Run which in years past has been held in New York City.  This fundraising event is intended to benefit the Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund which provides financial support to U.S. Army Rangers and the families of those who have died, been disabled or are currently serving in harm’s way around the world.  This run is named after Sgt. James (“Jimmy”) J. Regan who was killed in action in 2007.  Jimmy was raised in the family home on Park Avenue, attended Munsey Park School and following graduation from Chaminade High School attended Duke University where he played on the lacrosse team. 

The course will begin at approximately 10:00 AM at the LIRR train station and proceed up Park Avenue past the former Regan home on the corner of Morse Lane where runners will turn right to Hunt Lane and then follow Hunt Lane past Munsey Park School and then right on Manhasset Woods Road to Park Avenue and back to the train station.

A motion to approve Jimmy’s Run on September 19, 2021 was moved by Deputy Mayor D’Angelo, seconded by Trustee LiCalzi and approved as follows:

APPOINTMENT OF MATHEW FULGIERI TO THE BZA

The Mayor made a motion to appoint Mathew Fulgieri to the BZA for a five-year term, seconded by Trustee LiCalzi and approved as follows:

HURRICANE HENRI

The Mayor acknowledged the road crew: Larry Staiano, Kevin Staiano and Ted Boutzalis for their hard work and preparedness for Hurricane Henri. 

ROAD/TREE PRUNING UPDATE

The Mayor reported that all the road work and associated striping is complete as well as all the tree pruning of the Village’s Right of Way (ROW) trees. 

SIXTH PRECINCT

The Mayor and Trustee Williams met with the Commanding Officer of the Sixth Precinct to discuss enforcement throughout the Village.   The Village’s request for a school crossing guard on Manhasset Woods Road and Hunt was approved and the location has been secured since the beginning of this school year.

 JACK O’LANTERN EVENT IN COPLEY POND PARK

The Mayor would like to create a “Jack O’Lantern Event” for the residents of Munsey Park.  The proposed event will take place in Copley Pond Park from Friday, October 29th to Sunday, October 31st.  The Event will encourage residents to carve pumpkins and place them on display for others to enjoy.  Trustee Im said that she would reach out to the Munsey Park Woman’s Club to see if they would like to be involved in this event.

 RESOLUTION JUSTICE COURT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Mayor made a resolution to authorize the Munsey Park Village Court to apply for the 2021-2022 Justice Court Assistance Program.  The resolution was moved by Deputy Mayor D’Angelo, seconded by Trustee Im and approved as follows:

MUNSEY PARK SCHOOL

The Mayor met Manhasset school officials to discuss the proposed walk-way on Village Hall property to Munsey Park School.  The Mayor will report back to the Board when the District provides proposed plans and associated costs. 

FINANCIAL REPORT

Mayor D’Angelo reported this month’s underlined expenses were for paving and engineering costs associated with the various road repair projects and the Village expects to recover all or most of these incurred costs.

PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT

  • POLICE REPORT: The Police Report for August 2021.was presented by Trustee Williams, stating 4 Auto Accidents, no Burglary-Residence, no Burglary-Business, no Robberies, no Larceny-Auto incident, no Larceny (other than auto), no Criminal Mischief incidents and a total of 13 summonses (13 Movers and 0 Parkers).   

  • JUSTICE REPORT: The Monthly Justice Report for July 2021 was presented by Trustee Williams with total fines assessed in the amount of $973.00.

  •  BUILDING REPORT: The Building Report was presented by Trustee Williams, stating that between June 1, 2021 and September 3, 2021, a total of 48 permits have been issued totaling $53,046.00 in Building Permit Fees.

 NEW BUSINESS

 315 MANHASSET WOODS ROAD

Mr. and Mrs. Yenicag of 315 Manhasset Woods Road approached the Village as they are acquiring land adjacent to their property currently owned by Manhasset Lakeville Water District.   Mayor Ceriello consulted with Mr. DiProperzio, Munsey Park Building Inspector, regarding the purchase of this land and it was determined that it does not fall into the criteria of a sub-division.  However, the Yenicag’s are responsible to cover all the Village’s costs incurred up to $2,000.  Deputy Mayor D’Angelo made a motion to approve that the Yenicag’s will cover the Village’s costs up to $2,000, seconded by Trustee Im and approved as follows:
