MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
BOARD OF TRUSTEES

September 12, 2012

The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m

MINUTES for the meeting of July 11, 2012 were approved as corrected.

CLAIMS for August/September were presented, as detailed in the Abstract of Vouchers in the amount of $143,164.47.  After review, the Board approved all for payment.

JUSTICE REPORT for August 2012 was submitted and stated revenues in the total amount of $4690.00.

POLICE REPORT for August, 2012 was distributed to the Board. During the month of August, the following activity was noted:

  • Auto Accidents 2
  • Aided Cases 8
  • Burglary 0
  • Robbery 0
  • Larceny 1
  • Summonses VTL 31 PRKG   25

MEMORY OF SEPTEMBER 11

The Mayor read the names of Village residents who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and requested a moment of silence:

  • Thomas Burke
  • James Connor
  • John F. Iskyan
  • Frank Salvaterra
  • Timothy C. Nelly
  • Joseph J. Dickey, Jr.
  • Paul R. Casio

FENCE – 66 TRUMBULL ROAD

Application was made to replace an existing fence, two gates and an arbor on the side of his property with PVC fencing. Mr. Boyer explained that the fence was rotten and he just wants to replace it.  Motion was made by Mayor Harry Nicolaides, to approve the fence, two gates and arbor, seconded by Trustee Susan Auriemma, and approved by all.  The Building Inspector will review the permit on Friday.

REPLACEMENT OF ORGINIAL SIGN – BENIHANA

Arleen from Ultimate Signs on behalf of Benihana would like to replace the existing sign and replace it with a sign that is 23 inches by 95 inches.  The sign would be an exact size replacement with the illuminated base staying the same.  Motion made by Mayor Harry Nicolaides, to approve the sign, seconded by Trustee Sheila Brennan, and approved by all.

GOLDRICK AGREEMENT

The Village Attorney presented to the Board two signed agreements from James Goldrick, 785 Hunt Lane, as well as the resolution.  Mr. Goldrick also included with the agreement and resolution a check in the amount of $5,000 for any bills from the Village Attorney and the Village Arborist.  Once the Village is in receipt of all bills, any remaining monies will be forwarded back to Mr. Goldrick.  Motion to approve the Mayor to sign the agreement made by Trustee Peter Puttre, seconded by Trustee Susan Auriemma, and approved by all.

LIGHT THE NIGHT – WOMEN’S CLUB

Mrs. Tara Kirkwood, Munsey Park Women’s Club, announced to the Board that the Light the Night this year would take place on December 2, 2012 at 7:00pm.  It was a great success last year and allowed the Women’s Club to donate the aerator at Copley Pond.  This year, the Women’s Club is interested in installing walkways around Copley Park Pond.  Mrs. Kirkwood also requested permission to place some signs announcing the Light the Nights around Munsey Park.  The Board unanimously agreed to allow, for this occasion only, those signs.

FALL LEAF PICK-UP

This year, the special leaf pick-up by Meadow Carting will take place on three consecutive Mondays.  The dates are November 19, November 26 and December 3, 2012.  This information will be in the Fall newsletter.

TRUSTEE MEETING TIME CHANGE

The Village Clerk requested to have the Board meetings start at 7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm.  A motion was made by Mayor Harry Nicolaides to have the Village Trustees Meetings start at 7:00 pm, seconded by Trustee Sheila Brennan and approved by all.  The Village Attorney requested that this change be put on the web site and that both Newsday and the Manhasset Press be advised, and that legal notices announcing the change be placed in both newspapers.

There being no further business, the meeting was declared adjourned at 9:05pm.
