**** Water Main Break ****
On Thursday, February 21, 2008, a major break occurred in an 8-inch water main owned by the Manhasset-Lakeville Water District in Munsey Park on Park avenue between Ridge Crescent and Munsey Place. Although the water main break has been repaired, Park Avenue has experienced undermining of the road base and remains closed to traffic. Traffic is currently being detoured to Nassau Avenue. To determine the extent of required pavement repairs on Park Avenue, the Water District will dig test holes on Monday, February 25, 2008. These test holes will be dug by the Village's engineers, after which the required pavement repairs will be agreed to and implemented. Should the road require extensive repairs, the Water District has indicated the they may decide to replace this section of the water main. Although this course of action would lengthen the amount of thime the road is closed, the repairs would prevent a similar occurrence in the future.
